It's playoff time—win or go clean out the locker room and say goodbye to the seniors.
Following district championships last week, regional playoff contenders will compete this week in quests for state championships in three team sports.
In baseball, Harmony, which won the District 7A-9 championship convincingly over Osceola last week, is the No. 4 seed in Region 3 and will host Treasure Coast on Tuesday at George Coffey Field at 7 p.m. A win will put the Longhorns (16-11) in a regional semifinal Friday.
Softball is the most intriguing playoff for Osceola County squads, as three qualified in Region 7A-3. Osceola (14-10), who won the District 7A-9 championship over Harmony, is the No. 7 regional seed and as a district champion will host Palm Beach Gardens Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Longhorns (11-10) are the No. 6 seed and play at Port St. Lucie Centennial at 4 p.m., and St. Cloud (13-14), runners-up in District 7A-10, is the No. 8 seed and is a Wellington at 7p.m. Winners will play on Tuesday, see AroundOsceola.com for updates.
In boys volleyball, St. Cloud (19-6), winners of eight of their last nine matches, including the Orange Belt Conference and FHSAA District 10 tournament, are the No. 3 seed in Section 2 and will host Dr. Phillips (14-8) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The winner will play in a section semifinal on Friday.
