Artist shop to host artist reception for photographer

The New York Artist Shop, 1124 New York Ave., St. Cloud, will host an artist reception featuring Steven Saccio from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
According to an artists shop press release, Saccio first began his photographic journey in high school while working on the yearbook as a member of the journalism team. While his interest was lit, it would be a couple more years before the shutterbug in him really kicked in.
In college, while attending the University of North Florida, Saccio started taking basic and advanced level photography classes. Using SLR film cameras, he would learn important skills in depth of field management, studio lighting, landscape and fashion photography.
In 2004, Saccio completed college with a bachelor's degree in fine art in graphic design and went to work for the Walt Disney Company. It was then that he purchased his first digital SLR camera and his passion for photography completely set in.
Utilizing a digital darkroom skill set picked up from his graphic design days, Saccio creates works with bold imagery using a variety of styles, the press release stated. Infrared, high dynamic range and light paintings as well as traditional wedding, fashion and portraiture photography are just some of the techniques and subjects he frequently works in.

The New York Artists Shop hosts a free-featured artist reception on the third Friday of every month. Light refreshments will be served.
