Kevin Satterfield, the man accused of shooting and killing his wife and daughter’s boyfriend and critically wounding his pregnant daughter May 1 in Buenaventura Lakes, was extradited back to Osceola County today after being captured in Louisiana.

Satterfield, 55, was in a wheelchair as Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies escorted him to a waiting Osceola County Corrections van equipped with a wheelchair lift to be booked into the Osceola County Jail on no bond. He is charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder.

Satterfield, barefoot in shorts and a T-shirt, said he didn’t know why he shot and killed his wife of more than 25 years, Vicki Satterfield, 53, and their daughter's boyfriend, Christian Martinez, 27, just before 1 a.m. May 1 at the Satterfield's residence located at 107 Coral Reef Circle in Buenaventura Lakes.

The Satterfield's daughter, Heather Satterfield, 21, was eight months pregnant when she allegedly was shot by her father. She was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said.

Kevin Satterfield’s brother, Gary Satterfield, of Davenport, said the baby was delivered by emergency C-section May 1 after the bullet grazed the baby in utero.

Mother and baby’s current condition is unknown, however Kevin Satterfield said this morning he was happy the baby was born.

Satterfield said there was no argument the night of the shooting but Martinez was possibly the source of a problem.

With no family that he knows of living in Louisiana, Satterfield said he made the drive after the shootings because “it was a place to go” and he “wanted to put some space between the situation.”

Authorities spent several days interviewing Satterfield in Louisiana after an off-duty deputy noticed his vehicle, a 2004 Jeep Cherokee with a wheelchair lift on the rear, in the parking lot of a Motel 8 off Interstate 49 in Opelousas, about 90 minutes west of Baton Rouge.

“A gun was recovered at the hotel and is currently being tested to see if it’s connected to the incident,” Lizasuain said.

Authorities have not released a motive or details into their conversations with Satterfield.

Satterfield will have his first appearance via remote satellite Sunday. His mug shot was unavailable as of press time.
