Don’t set your expectations  too high and you will have a good time watching Chronicle (20th century Fox Home Entertainment), a tale of three teens who stumble upon some force deep in the ground which gives them telekinetic abilities.

Andrew (Dane DeHaan) is the typical high school loner/loser who has the most profound changes after encountering the force.

It is all play at first, as the teens use their new-found abilities to play pranks, but things get out of control when their darker sides start to take over.

The pacing is fine, but things get a bit out of control by film’s end, but this is still a fun ride for teens and adults.

There are lots of special effects which look good and sound good on a home theater system. The Blu-ray combobpack includes the director’s cut featuring footage unseen during the original release.

The Blu-ray also features a deleted scene, camera test, theatrical trailer and Chronicle soundtrack information.

The Grey

Liam Neeson is back in another tense drama, this time with wolves in The Grey (Universal).

If you are expecting non-stop action as Neeson and the other survivors of a plane crash do battle with a pack of wolves, you probably will be disappointed by this film which is more about introspection than wolves with a taste for human cutlets.

The Grey looks good and means well, but if you are expecting the typical man-meets-wolf, wolf-eats–man story, you probably best stay away.

There are flashbacks and Neeson’s character already has some hard-pressing problems before he and the group he leads are in survival mode.

The Grey gets points for not being what you might typically expect from this kind of film, but it is not an easy film to sit through either.

The Blu-ray combo pack includes a DVD disc and a digital copy as well. Another nice bonus in the Blu-ray pack is Ultraviolet, which gives you a copy of the film in the Cloud.

Smithsonian Channel

It you like your adventure with more realism Inception Media Group has just released two more titles from the Smithsonian Channel Aerial America: Pacific Rim Collection and Air and Space Collection.

Both collections feature four “episodes” guaranteeing a nice evening in front of that home theater.

Aerial America focuses on the U.S. west coast, taking in all of the natural wonders and beauty of Washington state, Oregon and California as well as Hawaii.

The trip includes things a tourist might find as well as the wild side of the west coast.

Fasten that seat belt for the Air and Space Collection,  four  shows that look at  America’s love affair with flight. America’s Hangar visits the legendary pilots, astronauts and the machines that made it possible.  History in HD: America in Space looks at the first decade of space exploration; Concorde: Flying Supersonic is a look at the 30-year history of the world’s first and last supersonic passenger jet; And Space Shuttle: Final Countdown is another 30-year story, that of the space shuttle program.
