Old McDonald had a farm, but he never did make it as a movie star.

“Farmers” at the Spirit Farm at Harmony will get their chance to star in the Spirit Farm Photo shoot Wednesday and June 2.

Farm organizers are seeking people of all ages to participate in the upcoming photo shoot. Participants may be featured in print, on a bus wrap and in web marketing materials. The photo shoot is open to all ages — male and female, youngsters, adults and seniors from all cultural backgrounds.

The photo shoot will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 to 11 a.m. June 2.

All participants will receive refreshments, a chance to win raffle prizes and goodie bags. There also will be pony rides and games for the youngsters.

Call 407-957-0207 or email the Harmony Institute at scarey@harmonyinstitute.org for information and to sign up.

The Spirit Farm is an 80-acre-plus farm behind Harmony High School that is reminiscent of an old Osceola settlement. The staff works out of Ray’s Hardware, and children can play cards and enjoy cool drinks in Red’s Saloon.

Miniature horses are saddled and tethered to a hitching post outside.  Around the vegetable garden, there are pens of goats and sheep as well as miniature donkeys looking for some attention. The farm also has pigs and chickens and natural trails that lead through scrub and forest.

It is a learning experience that includes experiences such as working in a garden to walking the guided nature walk and discovering wild animal tracks and learning about native plants.

The Harmony Institute will start its summer camp at Spirit Farm in June for eight sessions. Other activities include crafts, archery, horseshoes and more. The camp is for children ages 8-13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Anyone who wants a tour of the farm or more information about programming and adventure activities, email Samantha Covell, education coordinator, at scovell@harmonyinstitute.org.
