There isn’t much that you can get with a dollar, but this summer youngsters and their parents can go to the Regal Theaters at The Loop in Kissimmee for a buck.

It is the return of the Summer Movie Express, a nine-week festival of G and PG rated films. The films will be shown Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m.

“We are excited to kickoff another year of the Regal Summer Movie Express. This is a great activity for children and parents to enjoy together while raising funds for a worthy cause,” said Dick Westerling, Regal Entertainment Group senior vice president of marketing and advertising.

A portion of proceeds from the Summer Movie Express will be donated to the Will Rogers Institute.

The Will Rogers Institute uses the money to fund the institute’s mission in the areas of medical research and health education. The Regal Foundation, a non-profit charity established by Regal Entertainment Group, also provides monetary grants to local Boys & Girls Clubs to bring club members to the Summer Movie Express.

“Regal is proud to support the Will Rogers Institute and their ongoing initiatives for medical research and health education,” Westerling said.

“Once again, our friends at Regal Entertainment Group have provided us with an extremely generous opportunity to be associated with the Summer Movie Express,” said Todd Vradenburg, executive director of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation. “Families have the opportunity to enjoy a great time at the movies and get to know the work of the Will Rogers Institute.”

The list of films includes Disney’s recent animal adventure “Chimpanzee” as well as “Puss in Boots,” “Rango,” “Rio” and “Hugo.”

While films such as “Smurfs” and “Yogi Bear” might be difficult for some adults to endure, “Hugo,” “The Adventures of Tin Tin,” “Rango” and “Chimpanzee” are fun fare for the entire family.

“Hugo,” a Martin Scorsese film, was a best picture nominee at this year’s Academy Awards, while “Chimpanzee” is an endearing film about an orphaned chimp who is “adopted” by the male leader of a band of chimps.

“The Adventures of Tin Tin,” based on the series of classic children’s books, was also nominated at the Oscars for best animated film.

Here is the entire schedule of films. All films are screened at 10 a.m.

“Journey 2” (June 12); “Kit Kittredge: American Girl” (June 13); “Dolphin Tale” (June 19); “Happy Feet Two” (June 20); “Legend of the Guardians” (June 26); “Yogi Bear” (June 27); “Cats & Dogs: Revenge” (July 3); “Hugo” (July 4); “Adventures of Tin Tin” (July 10); “Puss In Boots” (July 11); “Kung Fu Panda 2” (July 17); “Rango” (July 18); “Rio” (July 24); “Spy Kids: All the Time”(July 25);

“Chimpanzee” (July 31); “Hoodwinked Too” (Aug. 1); “Arthur Christmas” (Aug. 7) and “Smurfs” (Aug. 8).

Regal has hosted the film series since 1991. The list of all Regal Theaters participating can be found at www.REGmovies.com/SummerMovieExpress2012.aspx

Other Central Florida Regal theaters participating in the Summer Movie Expresss program include the Winter Park Village 20 and Oviedo Mall Stadium 22.
