Burn bans for all Osceola County and the city of Kissimmee have been lifted.

Favorable changes to the Keetch-Bryan Drought Index allowed for cancelation of the ban on all types of outside burning, Fire Rescue Chief Rich Collins said.

The burn ban in Osceola County had been in effect since March. “Although the burn ban has been lifted, safety precautions must be taken whenever you burn,” Collins said. “Everyone monitor their local news and follow applicable safety information as we begin the hurricane season.”

In Kissimmee, despite the ban being lifted, city code states that all open burning of yard trash is prohibited. City residents are being reminded that at no time is the burning of trash, garbage or yard debris allowed.

For more information, call the Kissimmee Fire Department’s Fire and Life Safety Hotline at 407-518-2585 or visit the city’s website at www.kissimmee.org
