You can beat the summertime heat at the Brevard Zoo’s annual Summer Saturday Nights.

The event lets tourists and residents alike get a reprieve from those hot summer temperatures and still enjoy the sights and sounds of the zoo.

For the next six Saturdays (including tonight) the zoo will stay open late (June and July).

Admission to the zoo is only $5 after 5 p.m.

Summer Saturday Nights is available now through July 28. Last admission is 8 p.m.

Many of the animals at the zoo seem to appreciate the evening temperatures as well.

Each evening, most, but not all of the zoo animals are out on exhibit until dusk. For an additional charge, patrons can go kayaking, ride the train, and feed giraffe.  Each night the zoo provides musical entertainment from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a special animal encounter at 7 p.m.

Musical guests for the next six Saturdays include Honey Miller on June 23; Brevard Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Trio on June 30; Bee & Boo on July 7; Sax on the Beach on July 14; Highway 1 on July 21; and Brevard Symphony Orchestra String Trio on July 28.

Summer Saturday Nights is sponsored by Dan Adovasio State Farm; Florida City Gas; Florida Hospital for Children; Health First Health Plans; and Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort.

Brevard Zoo is home to more than 550 animals representing over 150 species from Florida, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
