St. Cloud residents are encouraged to attend the upcoming city of St. Cloud budget workshops and meetings.

City Council is scheduled to meet for proposed budget workshops Aug. 13 and 14 in City Hall’s Council Chambers (Building A, third level) at 6 p.m. The council will conduct a first reading of the budget and adopt the budget in September during scheduled regular council meetings Sept. 13 and Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m.

The proposed annual budget of the city of St. Cloud for the 2012-13 fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 will be completed and submitted by the city manager to the city council in early July.

“Staff has developed a fiscally responsible proposed budget under the current financial situation,” said City Manager Tom Hurt. “Despite all the challenges, we are confident that we will submit a balanced proposed budget. In this proposed budget, our citizens continue to see sustained programs and services, without a tax increase or City employee layoffs.”

The proposed budget may be viewed in person at City Hall (Building A, third level). The city manager’s memo to the City Council, which features a summary of the proposed budget, will be available online at www.stcloud.org by July 16. For more information, visit www.stcloud.org or call 407-957-7320.
