Some people truly are cupcake crazy.

If you don’t believe it, just head on over to the monthly Food Truck bazaar in downtown Kissimmee and wait in line at the cupcake truck that shows up regularly for the food truck events.

Well if you love cupcakes, the wait isn’t nearly as long for the newest cupcake shop in Osceola County — Yummy Mummy Cupcakes in St. Cloud.

Diandre Huggins is the lady behind the cupcake magic at the shop, where 13 different kinds of cupcakes every day will hopefully prove to be a lucky number for the new business.

Huggins, a native of Trinidad, and St. Cloud area resident via New York City, is a relative newcomer to the cupcake business. She had various jobs in New York City including working at the United Nations. She also has a degree in biology.

But with two young children and the hustle and bustle of New York City, she was looking for something else.

So after moving to Osceola County, and spending months of time preparing, Yummy Mummy Cupcakes was born.

“It took a lot of work,” Huggins said of the shop, which is located at Moes Plaza on the corner of 13th Street and Oregon Avenue in St. Cloud.

And while the hardest part of the business — getting a lease, setting it up, etc. is behind her, it still is a lot of work.

Huggins makes all of the cupcakes herself —from scratch. She starts baking most mornings at 4 a.m.

And then she has to head on over to the shop, where she also  is usually on her own, except for some occasional sales help from local high school students.

The cupcakes are everything a good cupcake should be — fresh, baked on the premises, piled high with colorful icing and made only with eggs, flour and sugar, and other natural ingredients.

The colorful variety of flavors includes treats such as red velvet, lemon, humming bird and piña colada. And there is always the flavor of the day, which can be anything from mango/Bavarian cream and guava cream cheese to peanut butter and jelly. You can check out the flavor for the day ahead  of time at Facebook at the Yummy Mummy Cupcakes page.

Yummy Mummy is more than just cupcakes. There is a large book on the counter with photos of all the specialty cakes Huggins can make for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and more.

The shop also sells specially designed items from the shop such as T-shirts and for the messiest cupcake eater in the house — bibs.

Huggins has been making the rounds at various events in St. Cloud trying to get the work out that she has opened in the city and is serious about the cupcake business.

She is so optimistic she already has hopes of opening a second location in the Lake Nona area at some point.

Cupcakes cost $2 each with the specialty cupcakes costing $2.50.

There is even a happy hour on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 50 cents discount on cupcakes.

Yummy Mummy Cupcakes also has a website with more information on flavors at www.MummyCupcakes.com. You can also place an order online at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Call 321-805-4888 for more information.

The shop is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
