Writer Lights! Camera! Action! The first-ever Miss Poinciana Pageant is red carpet ready and is proud to represent the community.

The Miss Poinciana 2013 Pageant will be Friday, July 27, at 7 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center. This event has three age divisions- Little Miss Poinciana (ages 6 to 10), Junior Miss Poinciana (ages 11 to 15) and Miss Poinciana (ages 16-25). The girls will open the show with a dance number and proceed on with casual wear and formal wear.

This history making pageant is presented by the group Poinciana Professionals. Poinciana Professionals is an on-line networking community with more than 100 members who live, work or would like to do business with the community. Founded by Melody Nadal and Nadal Enterprises, Poinciana Professionals meet once a month for face to face networking at the business of a member. Monthly meet ups have been held at Starbucks, NYPD Pizza, and Citrus Gardens to name a few.

Poinciana Professionals decided to organize this event in conjunction with the community of Poinciana’s 40th anniversary. While the Association of Poinciana Villages is sponsoring this event by providing the community center as its site, the event has been organized, promoted and established by the Poinciana Professionals group.

The community center stage has been transformed for this night and will feature a runway. This donated accessory will provide the contestants with additional space and add a catwalk for the girls to proudly display their pageant style. It’s not just glitz and glam, though.

Prior to Friday’s event, the girls will be interviewed by a select panel of prominent Poinciana community leaders (names have not yet been disclosed). The judges will ask questions and base their grading on the contestants’ knowledge of Poinciana. The holders of Miss Poinciana 2013 titles should know about the community and want to proudly represent it.

The winners in each age division will be announced at the conclusion of the pageant. As part of the Association of Poinciana Villages 40th anniversary, the Miss Poinciana in each age division will be awarded their prizes by the Poinciana Professional’s benefactor. Miss Poinciana will be awarded $500; Junior Miss Poinciana, $250; and Little Miss Poinciana, $100. These prizes will be given to the winners at the Back to School Beach Bash Aug. 11 at Harmon Park. This also is a chance for residents who have not seen the winners to do so. The Miss Poinciana Pageant proceeds will benefit a local community group, the name of which will also be announced that day.

Tickets for the Miss Poinciana pageant are still available. The price is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the community center, the APV Administration office, 401 Walnut St.) or by calling Melody Nadal at 321-437-6750. The ticket price includes a keepsake pageant program filled with local advertising, a raffle ticket to win prizes during the event and admission. Be a part of this first ever event.
