The city of St. Cloud Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational programs and activities year-round for the residents and neighbors of the city of St. Cloud.

Several activities are planned for the month of September, including:

• Irish Step Dance Lessons – Learn the footwork, moves, and steps used in Irish step dancing during this beginner’s class that runs every Tuesday starting Sept. 4 at 4:15 to 5 p.m. at the Civic Center. 3001 17th St. Cost is $50 per person, per month.

• Men’s (18-plus) Basketball League – This league runs from Sept. 4 through November on Tuesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Civic Center’s gym B. Cost is $250 per team.

• Swimming Lessons – The two-week session 14 swim lessons will run from Sept.  4 to14 from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center, 3001 17th St. Session 15 (final session this season) sign-ups are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. Thirty-minute classes are $35 for Osceola County residents/$45 for non-residents. Sixty-minute classes are $45 for residents/$55 for non-residents. The two-week session 15 (final session this season) swim lessons will run from Sept. 17-28 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center.

• Men’s (30-plus) Basketball League – This league runs from Sept. 6 through November on Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Civic Center’s Gym B. Cost is $250 per team.

• Marina Building Banquet Hall Open House: Sept. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.; Sept. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m.; Sept. 19 from  4 to 7 p.m.; and Sept. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. The Marina Building Banquet Hall is at 1104 Lakeshore Blvd., second floor. And remember to check out the interactive multimedia kiosk on the first floor’s lobby area.

• Ron Riley Youth Basketball – A clinic registration runs from Sept. 10-28 (or until full) at the Civic Center. Cost is $20 for Osceola County residents/$30 for non-residents. The clinic is scheduled for Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Civic Center’s Gym B. Winter league registration begins Sept. 10. Cost is $50 for Osceola County residents/$60 for non-residents. Practice runs from Nov. 5 through Dec. 28 and the games run from Dec. 8 through the middle of March 2013.

• Creative Movement Munchkin Adventure – The program returns Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 11 for children ages 2-5. Cost is $2 per child. This 45-minute adventure begins at 10 a.m. at the Civic Center.

• Home School P.E. Program – This program resumes Sept. 11 at the Civic Center. Elementary and middle school-aged children are invited Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. The one-hour class with Coach “D” will help home-schooled children in leading a healthy lifestyle. Cost is $3 for Osceola County residents.

Men’s Softball League – Games are scheduled for every Wednesday, from 6 to 10 p.m., Sept. 12 through Nov. 7, on baseball fields 5 and 6.

Adult Co-ed Softball League – Games are scheduled for every Friday, from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 14 through Nov. 9, baseball fields 5 and 6.

Creative Movement – The program returns Sept. 13 to the Civic Center.

• Movie at the Lakefront: Friday, Sept. 14 at sunset. “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” will be shown at Lakefront Park, 1104 Lakeshore Blvd. A family movie is shown every month on a giant inflatable movie screen. This monthly program is free to the community.

• Dive-In Movie: Saturday, Sept. 15, the gate opens at 7:30 p.m. and the movie begins at sunset at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center. The movie is  “Remember the Titans.” Cost is $1 per person.

• Garden Class – The Urban Agriculture Program is hosting a Seed and Plant Sale and two classes in September: Composting and The Fall Garden will be Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Peghorn Nature Park and Trail, 2101 Peghorn Way. Registration is required. Cost is $8 per person.

• Kids Night Out – An inside-camp out is set for Saturday, Sept. 22, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Civic Center. Cost is $10 per child (dinner and dessert included). Children should bring their sleeping bags. The Kids Night Out program offers supervised care and fun activities for children ages 6-11, while parents enjoy an evening to themselves.

• Lifeguard Class – A Lifeguard Class is set for Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 29-30 from  9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center. Cost is $225, which includes books. Applicants must pass a swim test prior to the start of the class. Swim test dates are: Sept. 11 and Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m., and Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. Only one swim test must be completed.
