Shirley Hood received a proclamation from St. Cloud Mayor Donna Hart Jan. 14 during the first regular council meeting at City Hall in 2010.
Hood was selected as the 2010 St. Cloud Senior Center Queen at the 44th Annual Queen’s Ball Dec. 3, at the St. Cloud Senior Center. Clubs that meet in the center submit names of candidates to vie for the title every year. The candidates must live in Osceola County, Orange County or Polk County, be 55 or older and be an active member of the center for at least six months. “I am honored to serve as queen, and I would like to invite everyone to the senior center,” Hood said. “We have a lot of great events and volunteers who help others in dancing and other activities. No matter what your age, join us; we have a lot of fun.”
Hood has been a St. Cloud resident for 29 years. She is a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, has served as secretary/ treasurer of the Seniorcise Club for six years and is a member of the Line Dance Club.
