Different story?

To the editor:

Remember back when Osceola County School Board member Jay Wheeler was pushing school uniforms? Remember when Orange County provided a study that school uniforms don't improve academics or behavior?

Remember when Jay said, “Everyone can afford Wal-Mart and if they can’t, they need to think about turning off their cable TV or stop buying alcohol or cigarettes and spend their money on their children,” and “I just told the truth and parents need to take responsibility and put their children first!”

Sorry Jay, that wasn’t the whole truth. You can find the rest of the story on the Osceola County School District website at www.osceola.k12.fl.us.

Look under Schools. Selecting Charter, you will find Four Corners Charter Elementary School K-8. Viewing this website, you will see that three of the five serving on the board of directors are Jay Wheeler, John McKay and David Stone.

Under School Information, third paragraph down, you will see Information for parents, that says: Uniform Policy – it is mandatory to purchase all uniforms from Ibiley Uniforms Inc.

Now read Jay Wheeler’s 2009 second-quarter campaign report to see Ibiley contributed $500 on May 8, 2009. Are you getting a clear picture here?

You can also see that on Jay’s fourth-quarter 2008 report, he received $500 from Charter Schools USA, the same management company that runs, you guessed it, Four Corners Charter Elementary.

Jay said, “I’ve been looking out for the taxpayers since I was elected” for the news media. His record tells a different story.
