A white mini-van overturned in a retention pond near Flora Ridge Elementary School Friday morning, with the driver trapped inside.

Eric Maceo Logan, 37, of Kissimmee, was killed in the crash. His two children, who were with him in the van — a kindergartner and a 1-year-old — were rescued from the pond and not injured.

Logan lost control of the vehicle after having a medical issue, according to the police report. The van crashed through a fence and landed upside-down in the retention pond, outside of the elementary school.

A local man was able to rescue the two children from the van. Logan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Dyer Boulevard between Floral Avenue and West Carroll Street was closed while Orlando Fire Department's dive team searched the water and wreckers pulled the van out of the pond.
