The Osceola Center for the Arts presented its Annual Juried Art Show on May 4, handing out $800 in prize money.
First-place in the painting category went toRob Kaz of Celebration, shown above with and Center Director of Visual Arts Jules Davidson. This year’s Best of Show winner was Carolyn Davis, of St. Cloud, for her clay sculpture called ‘Totems’.
Other first-place winners were: Brandon Loetz, of Windermere, (drawing and graphics); Ana Caravias, of Orlando, (sculpture); Lauren Steiert, of Harmony, ( mixed media); and  Scarlett Mann, of St. Cloud (photography).
“Every year this event grows in talent and numbers and this year is no exception. Over half of this year’s 65 artists are from Osceola County and other artists came from as far as Jacksonville, St. Petersburg and even Las Vegas, to compete for the $300 top prize and one of five $100 1st prizes,” Davidson said. “This is one of my favorite shows of the year, not only for the number of participants but because it showcases all levels of talent and allows them all to shine.”
Also on display in May, are pieces created by children and adult students of the center’s art classes, which include drawings, paintings, ceramics and stained glass.
The art show will remain on display through May 25  and is free and open to the public. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is at 2411 E. U.S. Highway 192, Kissimmee. Visit www.ocfta.com or call 407-846-6257, Ext. 0 for more information. The other winners were:
