The Osceola County School District has announced that its offices will be closed on Fridays during the summer to save money.

The four-day work week will save on utility costs and operational costs, district officials stated in a press release.

Beginning June 13 and ending Aug. 12, district administrative offices and school front offices will be open to the public Monday through Thursday during the following hours: Monday through Wednesday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Some district facilities may be open on Fridays for teacher training, school-based events or maintenance work. For the week of July 4, regular work hours Tuesday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will be followed. School District offices will be closed on Monday, July 4.

Summer day camp

The Osceola County School District has an-nounced its schedule for Extended Day Summer Camp that will run Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Summer Session 1 camps, which run June 15 through July 15, will be at 10 elementary schools: Deerwood, Reedy Creek, Celebration K-8, Kissimmee, Mill Creek, Michigan Avenue, Pleasant Hill, Partin Settlement, Ventura and Narcoossee.

Session 2 camps, which run July 18 through Aug. 12, will be at six schools: Pleasant Hill, Kissimmee, Koa, Partin Settlement, Michigan Avenue and Ventura.

Extended Day’s administrative offices will remain open five days a week throughout the summer to support the camp sites.

Voluntary prekindergarten

The Osceola County School District’s Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) will run Monday through Friday, June 15 through July 29, from 7:45 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. at two locations: Osceola Center for Early Learning at the Ross Jeffries Education Center and Chambers Park Community Center.

This free program is open to incoming kindergarten-age students who have not already attended a VPK program. The prekindergarten administrative office will remain open five days a week throughout the summer to support the VPK program.
