Thunderstorms put a damper on three spring classic football games Friday involving Osceola County teams.

Harmony's contest at Mount Dora has been postponed until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Two games were shortened. St.Cloud lost to Olympia, 21-0, when lightning forced the teams off Gannarelli Field with 47 seconds left in the first half. Gateway fell to Lake Nona, 7-0, at the Ridenour Athletic Complex in a game called in the second period.

St. Cloud had an opportunity to score in the first quarter when quarterback Phillip Steinmetz hit Austin Jandrew on a 30-yard pass play to the Titans' 11. A penalty moved the ball to the 5, but Steinmetz's quarterback draw on fourth-and-goal from the 5 was stuffed by the Titans defense.

On the next play, Titans running back John Armstrong ran 94 yards through a Bulldogs blitz for a touchdown to make it 14-0. Olympia's Julian Grant returned an interception 30 yards in the second quarter to build the lead to 21-0.

Linebacker Dan Brown recovered a fumble for St. Cloud in the second quarter, and defensive back Eric Pfeifer intercepted a deflected pass.

There was no live kicking in the game.

The teams left the field as St.Cloud was driving at the Olympia 37. The game was called about 20 minutes later as thunderstorms moved into the area.

The game marked the debut of Mike Short as the Bulldogs' head coach.
