A ground-breaking ceremony was held Wednesday morning to celebrate the expansion of the Florida Hospital Kissimmee’s emergency department. Florida Hospital Kissimmee is growing with the community through the construction of a new emergency room wing, bringing 29 new beds, new technology and patient comforts.

The ground-breaking ceremony  to start construction occurred on Wednesday, with hospital administration, physicians and community leaders unearthing the first shovelfuls of dirt.

The Board of Osceola County Commissioners has approved a change in zoning designation of a 155-acre plot of land at Ralph Chisholm Regional Park in St. Cloud, in order to enable the construction of buildings and other structures needed for an equine research and rehabilitation program.

St. Cloud Fire Rescue will host a bike rodeo Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Fire Station 31 (900 Minnesota Ave.) for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The purpose of the rodeo is to help children learn cycling safety techniques. Children will go through a bicycle course geared toward recognition of street signs and will learn the proper techniques in yielding to cars, bicycle stability, proper helmet sizing and other bicycle safety tips.
