Osceola County’s homeless and low-income residents soon will have one place to find all the resources they need when the Community Hope Center opens next week.

Volunteers have spent weeks painting, doing landscaping and moving donated furniture into the renovated Mexican restaurant on the West U.S. Highway 192 Corridor.

The brainchild of local faith-based and nonprofit organizations, the center will cater to those residents looking for food, housing, spiritual and other needs

The building housing the Children’s Advocacy Center was constructed in 2009 adjacent to the Osceola County Council on Aging facility along U.S. Highway 192. It will require costly repairs made to its allegedly substandard construction in order to attract tenants to its top two floors, which are currently vacant.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of central and southern Florida, including Osceola County, until 8 p.m. this evening. Citizens should be way of possible tornadoes, 1.5 inch diameter hail, wind gusts of up to 70 mph within strong cells and dangerous lightning.
