Lakefront Park will be the site of Kissimmee’s annual Juneteenth Festival this Saturday from 12-4 p.m. Juneteenth is an annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States and a celebration of African-American culture, as was elevated to a federal holiday in 2021.

Experience live performances by comedian Tight Mike and Christopher Williams at the free event. The Festival is a celebration of community, culture and unity perfect for the whole family. Come out and enjoy food, live music, craft vendors, and activities.

The Pine Lilly Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society has two events this week. The first is a hike at the Shingle Creek Regional Park South Sector on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.. Meet at the Osceola County Welcome Center (4155 W. Vine Street). Dress appropriately and bring (plenty of) water for the free event. Also, the Society meets Wednesday, June 21 at the Hart Memorial Library at 6:30 p.m., where Mark Robinson will discuss soil health amendments.

The final weekend of “Cruel Intentions; The 90’s Musical” will run with four shows Friday through Sunday at Osceola Arts in Kissimmee. Time and ticket information can be found at osceolaarts.org.

Among the many activities at the Hart Memorial Library in Kissimmee this summer is the Family Movie Series on Friday afternoons at 2 p.m. Bring a blanket a pillow from home and enjoy this week’s movie “Finding Dory.” Also at the Library, celebrate Pride Month by creating a macramé rainbow in the flag colors of your choice at a free event on Saturday at noon (Head there on the way to Juneteenth!). Supplies will be provided.
