First BridgePrep Academy’s Farmers Market takes place on Saturday, April 27 from 12-4 p.m. Check out the produce and vendors at this inaugural event. BridgePrep Academy is located at 4851 KOA St. If you are interested in being a vendor, call 407-588-7976.

Also Saturday, Poinciana Christian Preparatory School South (601 Walnut St.) is holding a Spring Pop-Up Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free. There will be food trucks, raffles and games, games for children, prizes, face painting and a playground. You can also sign up for summer camp. This is a perfect opportunity to purchase a Mother’s Day gift from one of the participating vendors. For more information and vendor sign-up, call 407520-4194.

The Polk County Pirates, a wood-bat baseball league, will hold tryouts Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Poinciana Community Park, 5109 Allegheny Road. This league is for high school-aged players with experience. The league plays May 27 to Aug. 3. For more information, text 407-436-9055.

 

The Osceola Friends of the Library’s Book Sale will be on Thursday, May 9 from 12-5 p.m., Friday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday May 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Poinciana Library. This is a great opportunity to restock your home library while supporting programs sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Cash and credit cards are accepted. Fill a grocery bag-size bag with books for $4, $.25 for paperback and children’s books, $.50 for hardcover fiction and non-fiction. You may also purchase a Friends of the Library bag for $2.

On Friday, April 26 from 2-3:30 p.m., celebrate the life of Maya Angelou, while exploring her most famous works at the Poinciana Library. Poetry Matters: Maya Angelou, is a program for adults.
