The Three Kings came to bring toys and joy to the children of Osceola County last week.

Three Kings Day, or Día de los Reyes, celebrated Jan. 6, recognizes the Three Wise Men as they brought their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the baby Jesus in Bethlehem. In many Latin American cultures, children anticipate Three Kings Day—and the gifts and treats it will bring—as much as or more than Christmas.

A number of local Three Kings events were canceled, postponed to later in the year to tie to Easter, or moved to Sunday.

Members of the community, from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department to County Commissioners to The Osceola Chamber, celebrated them on Saturday or Sunday. The Three Kings themselves were portrayed by elected officials and other members of our business community, who took photos with families.

A major staple of these events is free toy and food giveaways and experiences for the whole family that help extend the spirit of giving of the holiday season to start a new year off right.
