Mecum Kissimmee 2024 kicked off with over 4,400 vehicles consigned for auction, but the undoubted highlight of the show was the handful of exotic sports cars on display in the Ferrari-exclusive “The Room,” which housed seven vehicles of the legendary Italian racing and sports car manufacturer valued at upwards of $150 million in total.

In addition, there were 465 Corvettes, 176 Ford Mustangs, 170 Chevrolet Camaros, 110 Mercedes-Benzes, nearly 80 Porsches and 40 other Ferraris that passed through the block, With so many vehicles to sell, Mecum’s auctioneers were working at a blistering pace of up to 400 vehicles per day. The first car to gavel for over $200,000 was a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback Custom went for $209,000 on Jan. 5. The trend continued into the following Saturday when a 2018 Porsche, a 1957 Cadillac, and a 1966 Corvette all went for over the $200,000.

Day 10, Friday, Jan. 12 saw the first sales topping $1 million for an individual vehicle, with a 1961 Mercedes-Benz sold for $1.4 million; a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible went for an eye-popping $2.1 million, and one of the featured cars of the auction, a 1966 Ford GT40 Mk I Road Car sold for just shy of — get this — $7 million.

Fun and excitement for all could be found daily at the Dodge Thrill Ride, where all guests could enjoy a bit of complimentary “turning and burning” in some of Dodge’s most powerful performance vehicles, including the Hellcat.

The final sales results will be available soon. By the last day of the show, MotorTrendTV and MotorTrend+ had broadcast 36 hours of live coverage from the auction at Heritage Park.
