We indeed are ‘Stuck on Trump’

Dear Editor:

In response to a Letter to the Editor from March 7 (“Are Republicans Stuck on Trump?”), I avoided too quick a response in order to wait for our Presidential Preference Primary results. To respond to James Tweed, the resounding answer is …YES!

In Osceola County, which in his words called us “stuck on stupid” for supporting Donald Trump, the percentage of the vote for him was 84%. We beat the state average by 3%. The letter only proved the author knows nothing about us Republicans in Osceola County or for that matter the (Free) State of Florida.

It is interesting that, in the letter, the writer did not criticize Trump’s policies. Why is that? Is it possible he agrees with his policies, but just can’t admit it? Is the hatred for the man so strong as to risk losing the general election to a person who has enormous disdain for Conservatives, of which, in his words, he said he considers himself?

He closed the letter by saying, “I’m hoping my friends in Osceola County understand.” He must have very few Republican friends in Osceola County, since 84% of us disagreed. We are kind enough to understand someone in another state might have some influence on how they feel about us, so we won’t call him a RINO, because that would be insulting even to them. Perhaps he is a ghost writer for Chris Christie.

End the war in Gaza -- here's how

Dear Editor:

There is a cacophony of voices worldwide all saying what Israel should do in Gaza. Most of these voices never mention that it was Hamas who attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The Hamas murderers came from Gaza killing 1,200 and taking more than 200 hostages, including Americans.

Where are those voices saying what Hamas should do? All Hamas needs to do is surrender and free the hostages and this Gaza war is all over. Gazans voted for a Hamas government in 2006, and have yet to demand new elections or rise up against Hamas. Among the cornerstones of the Hamas government is the destruction of Israel, with a long history of attacking Israel.

Our government has a long proud history of supporting the most democratic country in the Middle East, Israel. Israel has proven a stable reliable ally since it’s inception. Meanwhile as tragic as this Gaza war is, Israel should not give up until Hamas surrenders or is annihilated by the Israeli armed forces.
